Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy announce the arrest of Precious Hamilton, 15, of Crum Lynne, for the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Baseem “Seyven” Baker in Abington Township on Oct. 6, 2025.

At 5:01 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, Abington Township Police responded toa 911 call for an unresponsive person in the 100 block of York Road in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township. Police arrived at the residence and found Baker deceased from a gunshot wound on the bedroom floor.

A joint homicide investigation was launched by Abington Township Police and Montgomery County Detectives. Through surveillance videos and interviews, detectives learned that Hamilton had been at the Baker’s family residence since Friday night. On Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, Baseem’s 18-year-old cousin told detectives that Hamilton pulled out a small handgun from her bag and showed it to them, as well as showing them that the gun was loaded with live ammunition. Detectives recovered a video and still photo, taken Sunday, from Baseem’s iPad that showed Hamilton holding the small-caliber handgun and “dry firing” the gun out the window of Haseem’s bedroom. “Dry firing” is firing a gun without ammunition.

On Monday afternoon, the victim’s mother left Baseem and Hamilton in the apartment at approximately 2:40 p.m., when she went to run errands with one of her younger children. She told detectives that she reminded Baseem to lock the apartment door. When she returned at approximately 4:30 p.m., the apartment door was unlocked and then found Baseem unresponsive in the bedroom. An autopsy was performed on Oct. 7, 2025, by Dr. Ian Hood, a forensic pathologist with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Dr. Hood opined the cause of death was gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was homicide.

Hamilton was arrested and is charged in adult court with Third-Degree Murder, Involuntary Manslaughter, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor and Firearms Not to be Carried Without a License. She is awaiting arraignment later today, at which time a preliminary hearing will be scheduled. Hamilton will be housed at the Montgomery County Youth Center.
