A Willow Grove man has been sentenced to nearly two years in jail for a drunk driving crash in Abington Township that left two passengers seriously injured, according to a report.
Kenneth A. Yacovetti III, 37, of Windmill Road, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and related charges stemming from a Dec. 23, 2023 crash on Edge Hill Road. Investigators said Yacovetti lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado, striking a utility pole and tree while driving more than 30 mph over the speed limit.
Police determined his blood alcohol level was 0.21%—nearly three times the legal limit—and that marijuana was also in his system. Neither Yacovetti nor his passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time.
The wreck left both passengers hospitalized with severe injuries, requiring multiple surgeries.
Judge Thomas M. DelRicci sentenced Yacovetti to 11½ to 23 months in county jail, followed by three years of probation. He must also complete treatment, attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and will lose his license for 18 months. Work release eligibility will not be considered until he serves at least eight months.
