America's Most Hated: Eagles lead NFL in loathing across 13 states

The saying "no one likes us, we don't care" rings very, very true around these parts. Especially the first part of that saying, as it turns out.

According to a new study from Canada Sports Betting, Google search history from all 50 states suggests that over the past four years, the Philadelphia Eagles are the most hated team in the most states.

13 states dislike the Birds the most. Here's the full map of hatred, and you can check out more info here:

Some of those states are obvious. Of course Texas (and its surrounding states without NFL teams) hates the Eagles the most, because that's where the Dallas Cowboys are located.

That's a no-brainer.

Connecticut is close enough to New York that that hatred most likely comes from New York Giants fans.

Others are surprising at first glance, but when you think about it, they make sense. For instance, California is initially an eyebrow-raiser. The Golden State boasts three NFL teams, none of which are in the Eagles' division, and all of which have rich, longstanding rivalries of their own.

But then you look at the time period that CSB took into account for this study: Oct. 2021 to Sept. 2025.

What happened in the midst of that time frame? The entirety of the short-lived, remarkably vitriolic mini rivalry between the Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers.

The 2022-23 NFC Championship Game between the Niners and Birds, all the discourse and complaining that followed, and Dre Greenlaw's 2023 beef with Big Dom were probably the driving factors behind California's hatred of the Eagles.

The Los Angeles Rams also had a playoff game against the Birds in that time frame, but San Francisco's fan base is much larger and more rabid than the Rams', so I'll give the Niners the nod on that one.

Now, Alaska and Hawaii are completely out of left field. There's really no explanation for that, other than the Eagles have been one of the best teams in football during the time period in question, so they probably generated more traffic. Maybe it's the Tush Push effect.

So the Eagles top the list with 13 states that hate them: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas.

The Las Vegas Raiders came in second place with eight states, although the majority of them are sparsely populated Great Plains states like Montana and Wyoming. (Side note: I'd love to see a hatred ranking adjusted for population density.)

Two teams tied for third place with six states. The Green Bay Packers are, of course, hated by most of the Midwest, and the New York Jets have New England locked down.

The Cowboys only captured three states: Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia. Dallas' irrelevance during the time period in question is probably the reason they didn't win Pennsylvania as well. The Pittsburgh Steelers-Baltimore Ravens rivalry has been more evenly matched than Eagles-Cowboys recently.

All in all, it's good to be on top. They only hate the Birds 'cuz they ain't the Birds. That's something to be thankful for this week.
