UPDATE: After conferring with Abington police, Commissioner John Spiegelman said the incident that drew public concern was a U.S. Marshals operation that had no connection to ICE or immigration enforcement.

According to Spiegelman, federal authorities were executing an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted on a serious criminal charge out of New Jersey and believed to be in the Roslyn area.

Original story: He added that Abington police had confirmed the details with federal agencies. Because of how the operation was carried out, it may have appeared to some witnesses as if it were an immigration action, but police were assured it was not.

According to a MontCo Community Watch account, a man was detained in Abington Township by ICE agents near the Roslyn GIANT located at 2350 Susquehanna Road.

According to the account, the incident occurred on Monday at 7:15 a.m., when witnesses reported a confirmed ICE detention of one man in Abington Township.

According to the report, two Chevy Tahoe vehicles were reportedly used by the agents to detain the man.

No other information was available at the time of publication.

In October, MontCo Community Watch filed a lawsuit that resulted in a federal judge issuing a temporary injunction preventing the Department of Homeland Security from accessing user information from Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram.
