Pamela Scott, of the 6000 block of Old York Road, is facing a felony charge after being accused of stealing from the woman who she was supposed to be caring for, according to police.
A 72-year-old resident of the Samuel A. Green House in Elkins Park reported to police that her home health aide made unauthorized purchases using her EBT card over a three-month period, according to a police.
The resident told officers that she discovered several transactions on her EBT account ending in 4193 that she did not recognize. The charges, spread across June, July, and early August, were all made at the Acme supermarket at 323 Old York Road in Jenkintown, where her aide regularly shopped on her behalf.
The victim receives home health support through VNA Community Services, and her assigned aide was identified as Pamela V. Scott, 71, who also worked with several other residents in the retirement community. Schnee told police that she would give Scott a shopping list along with her EBT card and PIN so the aide could purchase only the items she requested.
However, investigators say Scott allegedly made an extra transaction during each grocery trip, purchasing food items for herself using the victim's funds.
Police listed the following unauthorized purchases:
In total, the fraudulent transactions amounted to $176.68, not including tax.
Police say the victim confirmed she never requested or received any of the items listed above. Store security provided officers with surveillance footage and printed receipts for each transaction.
Scott is being charged with a felony charge of identity theft.
A preliminary arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge R. Emmett Madden.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
