A Philadelphia man has been found guilty in connection with an armed robbery that took place earlier this year at a credit union in Abington Township, according to officials.
Federal prosecutors announced that Charles Thomas Clark, 30, was convicted of aiding and abetting armed bank robbery, as well as aiding and abetting the use and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence. The charges stem from the Jan. 9, 2024 robbery of the American Heritage Credit Union on the 1300 block of Old York Road.
According to evidence presented during the trial, Clark and co-defendant Emmanuel Glass entered the credit union shortly before 3:30 p.m., pointed a gun at employees, and demanded money. Staff reported that the men placed the stolen cash (along with deposited checks) into a paper McDonald’s bag. During the robbery, Clark repeatedly warned employees not to activate alarms, telling them the money was insured and that “it’s not worth your life.”
The pair fled the scene in a gold 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, prompting a police response after the bank manager called 911. Officers soon located the vehicle and began following it. Prosecutors said Clark, behind the wheel, struck multiple vehicles in an attempt to escape before crashing into a marked Abington Police car. Both suspects fled on foot but were quickly apprehended.
Glass pleaded guilty in July. Clark is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 5, 2026.
The case was investigated by the Abington Township Police Department and the FBI’s Fort Washington Resident Agency. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Catherine Dos Santos and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan Farley.
