Montgomery County is taking a major step forward in providing comprehensive behavioral health care with the groundbreaking of its new Emergency Behavioral Health Crisis Center. The first facility of its kind in Pennsylvania, the Center will offer 24/7 emergency behavioral health and substance use support for residents of all ages.
The Montgomery County Commissioners, along with state, local, and federal officials, health care providers, and community advocates, will gather on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at 1021 West 8th Avenue, King of Prussia, to celebrate the start of construction. Unlike a traditional shovel groundbreaking, the ceremony will feature a symbolic “sledgehammer” wall-breaking, highlighting the facility’s innovative approach. Renderings of the new Center will also be available for media coverage.
The Center, announced in July 2024 with an $18 million investment by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, will provide round-the-clock crisis intervention, stabilization, and mental health and substance use support. Developed in partnership with Connections Health Solutions, a national leader in behavioral health crisis services, the facility will accept walk-ins, referrals from the County’s Mobile Crisis Team, and individuals transported by first responders.
This initiative aligns with Montgomery County’s broader diversion strategy, helping individuals in crisis avoid unnecessary incarceration while accessing timely, appropriate care. Once operational, the Center is expected to serve as a statewide model for emergency behavioral health care, ensuring that every resident has access to safe, compassionate, and immediate support during their most vulnerable moments.
