Montgomery County authorities reported that a man attacked a medic who was providing him assistance, according to police.
The incident took place on Oct. 24 on the 100 block of Tomlinson Road in the Huntingdon Valley area of Lower Moreland Township.
According to police, 42-year-old Oleksandr Zabrodin was discovered by first responders "stumbling and staggering" in the middle of the road. Officials said it quickly became apparent that he was "under the influence of an unknown substance" and in need of medical attention.
As medics transported Zabrodin to an ambulance and began treatment, he reportedly regained consciousness and struck a medic with a closed fist. Police added that he also tried to break a medic’s fingers during the confrontation.
Zabrodin was eventually restrained and taken into custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. He faces charges including aggravated assault and attempt to cause serious bodily injury.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled.
