In the early morning hours of Tuesday, members of the Roslyn Fire Company were dispatched to a reported house fire on the 1700 block of Fairview Avenue in Abington Township.
Abington Police confirmed a working fire, reporting heavy flames visible from both the first and second floors of the residence, along with information that a dog might still be inside.
Upon arrival, Roslyn firefighters initiated the fire attack plan on the first floor. Members of the Weldon Fire Company arrived shortly thereafter and inspected the second floor. Crews from both companies simultaneously conducted a primary search of the residence.
During the search, firefighters successfully located and rescued the family’s dog from the second floor, bringing it safely outside.
Several mutual aid companies assisted on the scene, supporting interior operations, exterior tasks, and extensive overhaul efforts. Crews from McKinley Fire Company, Edge Hill Fire Company, Jenkintown Fire Company, Fort Washington Fire Company No. 1, Horsham Fire Company, Wyndmoor Hose, and the Abington Township Fire Department responded to the scene.
"We’re thankful to report there were no injuries, and the dog appeared to make a full recovery before leaving the scene," Roslyn Fire Company posted on social media.
