Abington Township officials have announced that controlled blasting operations are scheduled to begin at 711 Fox Chase Road in early June.
This work is part of the ongoing efforts to install underground site utilities for the project currently underway at the location. The blasting activities are expected to continue for approximately one month; however, the duration may vary depending on weather conditions, site progress, and other operational factors.
Township representatives have clarified that this blasting work is not associated with the demolition of the existing building on the site. Instead, it is a necessary component of subsurface construction required to support future infrastructure development.
In compliance with Pennsylvania state regulations governing blasting activities, a warning signal will be sounded prior to each scheduled detonation.
Specifically, an audible alert consisting of three distinct horn blasts (each lasting approximately five seconds) will be activated at least one minute, but no more than two minutes, before every blast.
This signal is intended to ensure that all personnel working in and around the site are aware of the impending detonation and can take appropriate safety measures.
