Abington Police charge woman with felony after attempting to steal nearly $1,500 worth of goods from Target, police say

The Abington Police Department was dispatched to Target located at 1495 Old York Road in Abington Township for a report of theft.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) and the suspect, identified as Chasity Dorsey-Berthea, 20, of the 5700 block of N. 13th Street in Philadelphia. 

Dorsey-Berthea was observed on the store surveillance camera selecting numerous items clearly marked for sale. Dorsey-Berthea was then seen walking past an inactive register lane, and she made no attempt to pay for the merchandise inside of her cart. 

Dorsey-Berthea then attempted to enter an elevator inside the store to make her exit, but was stopped by the LPO, and the merchandise was recovered. 

According to police, the total value of the attempted retail theft was $1466.74.

Dorsey-Berthea is charged with a felony of retail theft and other charges. 

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
