With increased safety measures in place, the June Fete Fair and Horse & Pony Show will return this year after a one-year hiatus.
Citing “safety and security concerns,” Upper Moreland Township denied a permit for the popular Montgomery County event in 2024, marking the first time in over 100 years there was no June Fete.
Now, with a renewed partnership with the June Fete Committee, Upper Moreland Township and the Abington Health Foundation Women’s Board will host the event on June 6 through June 8 at the Fairgrounds, 2990 Edge Hill Road in Huntingdon Valley.
“The thought and hope was always to bring it back,” Upper Moreland Township Pat Stasio said. “We’ve developed, in partnership with the June Fete Committee, increased safety measures in place. So those increased plans and communication we believe will lead to a more secure event.”
While Stasio would not go into detail about specific planned security measures, he is confident there won't be a repeat of 2023 when there were small-scale incidents on the property.
“There were a couple of incidents that happened in 2023,” Stasio said. "They were manageable, but the measures that we’re taking this year will help ensure that those past instances do not occur again. They were minor but they could have led to something more major, but they did not, thankfully.”
The cancelation in 2024 marked the first time in over 100 years that there was no June Fete.
“I think it was a mixed response,” Stasio said of the cancelation. “I think all of us where disappointed, but a number of folks understood the rationale behind the cancelation last year.”
This year, both residents and the Township are excited to get a staple of the community back.
“It’s been very positive,” Stasio said of the reaction to the announcement. “The folks that I’ve talked to are excited about the June Fete coming back. They look forward to it every year, and we look forward to it every year as well.”
The event schedule is:
The Horse Show will take place on Saturday, June 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to event organizers, vendors for this year include:
“Everyone should feel safe,” Stasio said.
