United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that Imoleayo Samuel Aina, also known as “Alice Dave,” 27, of Nigeria, pleaded guilty on Monday to multiple charges in connection to the sexual extortion and death of a Glenside man and former Abington Senior High School graduate.
The charges, investigated by the Abington Police Department and the FBI, stem from a sexual extortion scheme that resulted in the death of a Kutztown University student, according to a report.
According to reports, Jack Sullivan, then a 20-year-old Kutztown University student, received an Instagram message from Aina in January 2023. The two exchanged intimate photographs, and then Aina demanded money in exchange for deleting the pictures.
Sullivan sent $2,800, but Aina did not delete the photographs, according to a report. Less than a day later, Sullivan walked on the train tracks at the Jenkintown SEPTA station where he was struck and killed by a train, according to a report. The death was ruled a homicide, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Department of Justice announced he was charged with cyberstalking, making interstate threats to damage reputation, receiving extortion proceeds, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and four counts of wire fraud.
Aina and his co-defendant, Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, 25, were arrested in Nigeria following a criminal complaint and warrant. They were taken into custody by the FBI on July 31, 2024, and extradited to the United States to face prosecution. In August 2024, they were indicted alongside a third Nigerian co-defendant, Afeez Olatunji Adewale, 25.
Aina is scheduled to be sentenced on August 11 and could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Abiodun pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy to commit money laundering and four counts of wire fraud. He is set to be sentenced on June 10 and faces a statutory maximum sentence of 100 years.
Adewale, who faces similar charges, remains in Nigeria as extradition proceedings are underway.
