FIRE REPORTED IN CHELTENHAM

Back deck reportedly on fire in Cheltenham Township

A deck fire has been reported in Cheltenham Township.

Dispatch was called out around 5:52 p.m. on Friday, May 2, for the report of a non-commercial building fire in the area of the 600 block Webb Road, in the Elkins Park section of the township. Callers reported seeing a "back deck" on fire and "fully involved." 

At this time, it is believed that no one is in the home. More details will be published as information is made available. 

Reporting to the scene were units from Elkins Park Fire Company, LaMott Fire Company, Glenside Fire Company, Weldon Fire Company, and Cheltenham Township Emergency Medical Service, among other first responders.   

The fire was reported as being knocked down by 6:03 p.m., with no extension of the flames into the home, according to those at the scene. Residents are asked to avoid the area as emergency crews handle the fire.
