Several longtime Abington teachers are set to retire after this school year

The Board of School Directors approved the retirements at their monthly March meeting

The Abington Board of School Directors met for their monthly March meeting on March 25.

During the meeting, the board approved several faculty members retirements.

A total of nine Abington staff from Overlook Elementary School, Rydal Elementary School, the Middle School and High School will call it a career at the end of this school year. Some of these valuable staff members have served the district for multiple decades.

The Board approved the retirements of:

Ms. Michelle Pugh
Overlook Elementary School teacher
Served the District for six years

Ms. Jill Sandler Ligi
Abington Senior High School English teacher
Served the District for 32 years

Ms. Stephanie Zacharias
Rydal Elementary School teacher
Served the District for 35 years

Ms. Charnette Berry
Day Roving Custodian
Served the District for 37 years

Ms. Rosemarie Boyd
Paraprofessional at Abington Middle School
Served the District for 25 years

Ms. Darlene Carr
Aide at Rydal Elementary School
Served the District for 10 years

Ms. Maria Gallagher,
Aide at Abington Middle School
Served the District for 33 years

Ms. Mary Ellen Serbun
Paraprofessional at Abington Middle School
Served the District for 27 years

Ms. Elizabeth Shahbazi
Aide at Abington Middle School
Served the District for 29 years
