The Abington Police Department has announced it made an arrest in connection to the shooting of a juvenile female in the hand while in the parking lot of Roslyn Park.

Adam Soumahoro, 20, of the 2700 block of Jenkintown Road in Glenside, faces felony charges of robbery, inflicting serious bodily injury, person not to possess firearms, and aggravated assault, stemming from the March 12 incident.

According to the arrest affidavit, an investigation determined that the shooting incident was related to a drug transaction that was set up via Instagram, which led police to Soumahoro. A warrant was issued for his arrest, along with a search warrant for his residence.

Arrangements were made through social media for the sale and purchase of an ounce of marijuana, according to police.

On Monday, March 24 at 12:45pm, the Abington Tactical Team, Patrol Division and detectives conducted a search of Soumahoro’s residence. Soumahoro was taken into custody without incident, according to police. A subsequent search of the home led to the recovery of a 9mm firearm. He was processed and is currently awaiting arraignment, police said.

On March 12, police responded to a 911 call from the victim and witness, who had driven to the 2800 block of Susquehanna after the shooting incident occurred. Their vehicle had stalled-out while enroute to the hospital, prompting them to call 911. The victim was transported to Abington Jefferson Hospital by EMS for treatment of her injuries. According to police, a search of Roslyn Park revealed a spent 9mm shell casing in the middle of the parking lot.
