A hot-button issue over the last month or so among Jenkintown residents could become a reality tonight.
On Wednesday, March 26, at 7 p.m., the first order of business at the Jenkintown Borough Council meeting is a motion to approve a new parking ordinance that would put metered parking on numerous residential streets, and allow non-residents to park on the street in front of homes for up to 10 hours.
The meeting will be located in Borough Hall, 700 Summit Avenue, Jenkintown, but a live stream of the meeting will be available on social media here for those who can't attend in person.

The new ordinance would allow parking meters to be installed on residential streets for 50 cents per hour. As previously mentioned, it will also allow non-residents to park on streets for up to 10 hours. This could create parking issues for homeowners in the area.
The parking meters would be installed on the following streets:

"We moved out of Philadelphia to get away from this," said one resident.
"We are not sure what the problem is that you are trying to solve," said another.
Residents are hoping that Borough Council will reconsider adopting the new ordinance.
"Please listen to what we are saying," another resident pleaded.
