Nearly 300 students from Abington High School stood on their feet for eight straight hours to help fight a great cause.

The annual Abing-THON (or mini THON) event was hosted at the Abington Senior High School on March 22, and thanks to fundraising efforts from the student body, AHS was able to raise more than $75,000 for the Four Diamonds organization to help conquer childhood cancer.

This year's total eclipsed last year's total by more than $15,000, according to Abington High School.

"The students danced to a song made up by our student leaders, played games, and enjoyed food donated by local restaurants and parents," said Kristi Karcher, an Abington teacher who helps run the event. "We run this event with little to no costs, and the money raised goes towards the six charities we support."

Those charities are:

"Our student leadership team takes on a huge amount of responsibility, and it is led by our overalls: Mikayla Hedson, Erin Cleary, Ella Connell, Jamie Failing, Mia Zetick, Abby Donahue, and Anaya Hamilton," Karcher said.. "None of this would have been possible without their hard work and dedication."

The event was filled with games and activities, a teacher-student dodgeball tournament, and, of course, dancing. Lots of dancing.

All the proceeds from the event benefit a number of non-profit organizations in the local area.

"Bravo to the 300+ Abington Senior High School students who collectively raised more than $75k for pediatric cancer treatment and research as the final tallies rolled in following Friday night's culminating AbingTHON event!" Abington School District wrote in a post.
