After years of dedicated service to the Cheltenham community, Cheltenham Police Department Officer Ed Farrell and his K-9 partner, Dylan, are retiring, marking the end of a distinguished career in law enforcement.
Throughout their time on the force, Officer Farrell has exemplified courage, commitment, and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike. Along with his K-9 partner, Officer Farrell's unwavering dedication to protecting and serving will leave a lasting impact.
Officer Farrell served in the Cheltenham Police Department for 26 years and had Dylan alongside him for the past nine years. He began his career as a Patrol Officer in 1999, and over the years has served as a K-9 Officer, Eastern Montgomery County SWAT Hostage Negotiator and EVOC Instructor. He received numerous departmental commendations and official letters in recognition of his outstanding police service, including a Citation for Bravery in 2004 and a Service Ribbon for his deployment to Iraq in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In March 2019, Officer Farrell was honored for his 20 years of service to Cheltenham township.
