The Upper Moreland Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in connection to the vandalism incident that took place on Upper Moreland Elementary School property and adjacent properties earlier this month.
The police apprehended an 18-year-old Upper Mooreland resident who was arraigned on charges that include multiple counts of institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, defiant trespass, simple trespass and possession of an instrument of crime.
The Upper Moreland Police Department did not release the identity of the suspect.
“The Upper Moreland Police Department wishes to thank the Upper Moreland Township School District for their assistance during the investigation and the community for their help in identifying the offender," UMPD said.
According to police, on Saturday March 8 at 11:50 p.m., two subjects in a red sedan (an upper third brake light) entered the parking lot of the Upper Moreland Elementary School from Byberry Road and made their way to the back of the school. They then used spray paint to "tag" the building and playground equipment with swastikas and other vulgar words and drawings.
