A new Giant Food Store is finally preparing to open in Jenkintown.
The supermarket chain, which serves millions of people across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and New Jersey, is opening a new 50,000 square-foot facility at the corner of Old York Road and Wyncote Road, though a date has not been announced.
The company said it will be its first store in Jenkintown.
The new store is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the local community.
According to a flier on the store’s front door entrance, walk in interviews are available on Wednesday’s from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Giant has 21 supermarkets in Montgomery County and employs nearly 3,900 team members.
The announcement of the new Jenkintown was made in May 2023. It was originally scheduled to open around Thanksgiving 2024, but was delayed for unknown reasons.
Giant said the new supermarket continues the company's strategic growth in the Philadelphia region.
“With a decades-long history of serving Montgomery County, we are excited to bring Giant to Jenkintown,” said John Ruane, interim president of The GIANT Company. “The GIANT Company is looking forward to serving the families of Jenkintown by offering a simplified shopping experience, inspiring fresh ideas, and creating a healthier community, true to our purpose of connecting families for a better future.
