A one-vehicle accident has resulted in a pinned driver, as well as the closure of area roadways, in Cheltenham Township on Friday night.
Units were dispatched around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, March 14 to the area of Old Mill Road and the ramp to Route 309 at Easton Road for the report of a vehicle accident. Northbound lanes of Route 309 are closed at Easton Road at this hour as rescuers work to remove the driver in the one-car incident.
According to those at the scene, a dark silver small SUV has sustained massive damages. The driver is pinned inside the car, and an iPhone crash notification alerted county dispatch of the accident. Another caller, traveling southbound, also called 911. At this time, it appears only one vehicle was involved in the incident.
Those reporting to the scene included units from Cheltenham Township Emergency Medical Service, Wyndmoor Hose Company, Glenside Fire Company, and the Weldon Fire Company among other first responders.
The condition of the pinned driver has not yet been released. One person was transported from the scene by emergency medical services. More information will be posted as it is made available.
