Mystery solved!
Last week we published a story about an Uber driver who helped a passenger who suffered a medical emergency while on his way to work. The family of the passenger was searching desperately for the identify of the Uber driver to thank him for his heroic efforts.
And now they can.
According to the ABC 6 story, he was resuscitated by a driver named Taras Zvir of Northern Liberties, who performed CPR for about six to eight minutes before paramedics arrived.
“Right off the bat, you could tell he was a really nice person,” Zvir said. “I noticed he was just sweating. He was sweating pretty bad. I was immediately like, ‘Oh my God, are you OK?’ And he pointed his one finger like, ‘Give me a minute.'”
Anderson is recovering, but is still unconscious after emergency surgery, 6ABC said.
On Feb. 25, 41-year-old passenger Justin Anderson suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage in the back seat of an Uber, and thanks to his driver's quick actions and life-saving attempts, helped transport Anderson to Abington Hospital.
According to the passenger's mother, Debbie Anderson, Justin left Lebanon Avenue in Philadelphia around 7 a.m. During the ride, he suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage. Recognizing the emergency, the Uber driver immediately pulled over and called 911. Within minutes, an ambulance arrived.
"It gives me a little more faith in humanity," Debbie said, according to the article. "Had he hesitated or not acted as fast as he did, Justin wouldn’t be here. I truly believe that."
Doctors told the mother that most people don’t survive brain hemorrhages, making every second critical. They credit the driver’s fast thinking with saving her son’s life.
"It’s so important to pay attention and take action. You never know how much of a difference it can make," she said. "Because of him, my son is still here. I just want to hug him and thank him — I’m beyond grateful for what he did."
