The effects of the SPS Technologies fire are being felt by many as community members in Abington, Jenkintown and Cheltenham are still grappling with the aftermath of the massive blaze.
Residents, especially those in live within close proximity of the facility at 301 Highland Avenue, still have many questions regarding the air quality and ground conditions. To help calm those concerns, local leaders have created a community meeting to give residents the most up-to-date information on the most pressing issues concerning the effects of the fire.
The meeting will take place on Monday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jenkintown Library, 460 York Road, Jenkintown.
The Jenkintown Borough Council worked with Sen. Art Haywood's office to schedule this community meeting. Sen. Haywood will be in attendance, and will be joined State Rep. Napoleon Nelson and Benjamin Sanchez.
The Borough of Jenkintown announced that an invitation was extended to Gov. Josh Shapiro's office and the Pennsylvania DEP, however, their attendance has not been confirmed at this time.
