Robert Carroll, 33, of the 800 block of Jackson Avenue in Glenside, faces a felony charge of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, according to police.
On Feb. 22, around 10:30 a.m., the Abington Police Department responded to a report of gun shots on the 800 block of Jackson Avenue in Glenside, according to police. Upon arrival, several witnesses told police they heard gun shots from a nearby residence on the 800 block of Jackson Avenue.
Police made contact with Carroll, who told police that he heard gun shots, but reported that it sounded like they came from Harrison Avenue (one street further west), according to police. Police then asked Carroll to speak outside, but he was hesitant, according to police. Eventually, Carroll agreed to come outside and police asked him if there was anyone injured inside the house, and Carroll said everyone was okay, according to police.
Carroll appeared very nervous while talking to police and questioned the report of gun shots, attempting to argue that maybe it was fireworks, according to police.
An officer who is familiar with the suspect’s mother asked Carroll if his mother was home because the officer observed Carroll’s mother’s car in the driveway, according to police. Carroll told police that his mother was at work, however, nearby residents expressed concerns that Carroll maybe inside the residence due to her car still being parked at home, according to police. Phone contact to Ms. Carroll was attempted, but all calls went unanswered, according to police. Carroll was uncooperative when asked to call his mother to confirm she was okay, according to police.
Officers became concerned that something possibly happened to Ms. Carroll inside the resident and ultimately conducted a search of the residence for injured persons.
During the search, police confirmed that there was no injured persons in the residence, but while inside the residence, officers saw several items of contraband in a second floor bedroom, including:
According to police, the Abington Police Department later applied for and was granted a search warrant for the Jackson Avenue residence to complete a detailed search for additional contraband.

Based on the information, police believed Carroll engaged in conduct which placed other people in danger of serious injury and/or death, and was conducting a marijuana manufacture operation in order to grow marijuana with the purpose of distribution, according to police.
