Breaking: transformer explodes near house in Abington, according to reports

Electrical wires and a tree reportedly caught fire on the 2900 block of Kanes Road

Emergency crews are responding to the 2900 block of Kanes Road due to a transformer exploding near a home in Abington Township, according to reports. 

Montgomery County Dispatch reported that a tree and electrical wires caught fire due to the explosion around 3:15 p.m. Monday afternoon. 

It was reported that the fire was blowing in the direction of a home on Kanes Road, and another witness reported that the fire was starting the catch onto the house. According to a report, the trees in the backyard are "fairly contained."

Emergency crews from Roslyn Fire Company, Weldon Fire Company, Edge Hill Fire Company, Abington Fire Company, Fort Washington Fire Company, were dispatched to the scene.
