Jeffrey Guevara, 37, of Jenkintown, faces a charge of cruelty to animals stemming from an incident in Abington Township, according to police.
A police officer from the Abington Police Department was stopped in the area of Fitzwatertown Road and Oklahoma Road in Abington Township for a group of two adult and Geese and five baby Geese crossing the roadway.
The officer then observed a white GMC SUV traveling south bound on Fitzwatertown Road approaching the geese, according to police.
The GMC SUV was first in line so it had a clear vision of the Geese, according to police. The GMC never made an attempt to slow down or steer to avoid striking the animal, according to police. The officer witnessed the front driver side tire strike the animal causing it to roll in the roadway.
The police officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver, later identified as Guevara, admitted that he did see the “ducks” in the roadway, but attempted to swerve out of the way of hitting them, according to police.
According to the officer on scene, Guevara made no attempt to slow down or get out of the way of striking the Geese. The police officer attempted to rescue the Goose, but it was on the sidewalk and not moving.
Guevara is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 4, 2025.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
