Amiri Johnson, 52, of the 600 block of Selma Street in Norristown, faces a felony charge stemming from an incident at a Cheltenham Township home.
On Friday, June 13, police officers from the Cheltenham Police Department were dispatched to a home on the 1100 block of Coventry Street for a report of a laceration.
Upon arrival, while police officers and EMS walked into the basement of the home to assist the male, numerous firearms and firearm accessories were observed, such as live rounds and a 15-round magazine to be used in a semi-automatic Glock, according to police.
The male, later identified as Johnson, was transported to Abington Hospital after officers observed an injury to his leg. Upon arrival at the hospital, medical staff informed police that a bullet was ledged in Johnson’s leg and the medical staff was working to remove it from his body.
Police later returned to the home to conduct a search, where “substantial amounts of blood” were observed in multiple rooms, according to police. There were also multiple holes discovered in the home, which were consistent with projectile strikes from a firearm, according to police.

According to police documents, Johnson had an active warrant out of Philadelphia regarding a Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA), which makes Johnson a convicted felon, thus making it illegal to carry a firearm. Johnson was charged with a felony of Persons Not to Possess, Use, Manufacture, Control, Sell, or Transfer Firearms.
