Timothy Stephon Edwards, 33, of the 1700 block of Fairview Avenue in Willow Grove, is facing a felony charge after police officers discovered multiple semi-automatic handguns during a traffic stop, according to police.
On June 6 at 6:37 p.m., police officers from the Abington Police Department observed a Chevrolet Malibu on Township Line Road near Washington Lane in Abington Township. According to police, both front side windows and the windshield of the vehicle had excessive tint on them, prohibiting officers from being able to see inside the vehicle.
While attempting to stop the vehicle, one of the police officers observed the driver’s silhouette making a furtive movement toward the rear back seat. According to police, the movement is consistent with trying to conceal or retrieve a possible firearm, and not consistent with retrieving documents requested by police.
The operator, Edwards, had a holstered firearm (Sig Sauer P320) on his waist. Edwards also informed police that two other handguns were in the vehicle: a black Smith & Wesson semiautomatic handgun, and a Century Arms black semi-automatic handgun. Additionally, three magazines were recovered each containing 16 rounds and an extended magazine with no rounds, according to police.
Edwards’ permit to carry firearms had been revoked since May 18, 2022, according to police.
Edwards was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of firearms.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
