Naheime Wells-Fletcher, 20, of the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue in Philadelphia, is facing felony charges stemming from a traffic stop in Abington Township, according to police.
On July 19, police officers from the Abington Police Department were patrolling in the area of Township Line Road and Perry Road when they observed a silver, Honda Accord traveling westbound on Township Line Road.
The vehicle had no rear bumper and heavy tint on the windows. This vehicle’s registration was also suspended for insurance cancelation. Upon conducting the traffic stop, police made contact with three occupants inside the vehicle. According to police, the odor of marijuana was present, and verbal consent was granted to the officer to search the vehicle.
The search revealed a Smith and Wesson MP Shield 9mm with a loaded magazine, according to police. The firearm had an obliterated serial number, according to police. The firearm was located in a black backpack, in the middle seat, next to where the left rear passenger was sitting.
The left rear passenger was identified as Wells-Fletcher, who admitted to owning the black bookbag, according to police. Wells-Fletcher does not possess a concealed carry permit.
Wells-Fletcher is now facing felony charges of Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License, and Possession of a Firearm with Altered Manufacturer’s Number.
