Aurion Ferguson, 18, of the 1600 block of Franklin Avenue in Willow Grove, is facing a felony charge after a physical assault of a police officer, according to police.
On July 11, around 7:33 p.m., police officers from the Abington Police Department were dispatched to the area of the 1600 block of Franklin Avenue, where they were attempting to effect an arrest of a wanted subject, according to police.
Ferguson began to interfere with the arrest, and according to police, Ferguson failed to comply with officer’s orders. After several warnings, Ferguson had to be physically removed from the scene, according to police.
Ferguson then pushed back and struck an Abington Police officer with a closed fist in the face, according to police.
Ferguson was then taken into custody after she resisted officers by pulling her arms away as attempted to handcuff her, according to police.
The police officer suffered soreness to the left side of his face and cuts and abrasions on both hands, according to police.
Ferguson has been charged with a felony count of aggravated assault, and other charges, according to police.
Ferguson was not able to post bail, which was set at $7,500.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 31 in front of Judge John D. Kessler.
