The Upper Moreland Police Department successfully tracked down a stolen vehicle earlier this month, working swiftly to recover the car and return it to its rightful owner.

On July 8, a police officer from the Upper Moreland Police Department was on patrol in the area of Easton Road and Center Avenue, in the Willow Grove section of Upper Moreland, when it observed a white Hyundai Elantra.

Approximately 20 minutes prior to the officer’s shift, it received an alert in reference to the Elantra being stolen, according to police. Based on information from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), it was revealed that the vehicle was stolen on June 30, 2025, out of Philadelphia, filed by the Philadelphia Police Department.

A felony traffic stop was conducted in the area of Easton Road and Moreland Road, according to police. The officer observed the driver, identified as Briana Katrice Peterson, 35, of Glenside, exit the driver seat of the vehicle, according to police. Peterson was subsequently taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Peterson is charged with a felony offense of receiving stolen property.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. with Magisterial District Judge Thomas P. Murt.
