Abington police uncover loaded firearm, more items stolen from vehicle, according to police

The thefts occurred in the Willow Grove section of Abington Township

Efrain Andrea Vizcaya, 24, of the 1600 block of W Allegheny Avenue in Philadelphia, is facing a felony charge stemming from am investigation in the Willow Grove section of Abington Township, according to police.

On June 27, a police officer from the Abington Police Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of Preston Avenue and the surrounding area for a report of multiple thefts from vehicles. 

A witness reported that a male wearing a gray shirt was on its property attempting to open its vehicle door, according to police.

As police canvassed the neighborhood, officers observed multiple cars that were ransacked and unlocked, according to police. An investigation revealed that two actors were responsible for the thefts, one was later identified as Vizcaya. 

Vizcaya and another actor were stopped by police at 2506 W Moreland Road and found to be in possession of numerous items, which included: 

  • One loaded black Springfield Armory 9mm Hellcat stolen from a vehicle on the 2600 block of Old Welsh Road
  • One black pair of New Balance shoes stolen from a vehicle in the driveway on the 1800 block of Preston Avenue
  • $25 and Air Pods stolen from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Preston Avenue
  • Multiple bank cards and a wallet stolen from a vehicle on the 2600 block of Lillian Avenue

During an interview with police, Vizcaya admitted to possessing the firearm in his bag, according to police. Further investigation revealed that Vizcaya was responsible for stealing the fire arm, according to police. 

Vizcaya was found to have a “Revoked” concealed carry permit and is currently a fugitive due to a warrant for his arrest out of Plymouth Township.
