The Jenkintown School District, Abington School District and Cheltenham School District will remain closed on Tuesday, Feb 18 due to the Shelter in Place issued by police stemming from the warehouse fire at STS Technologies on Monday night.
“Borough Hall will be closed today,” Jenkintown Borough announced. “The Administration is working remotely. The yard debris curbside pick-up will not be carried out by Public Works today. If you already have yard debris at the curb you may leave it there for pick-up tomorrow or take it back up to the residence.
“Residents of Jenkintown Borough, are being asked to please stay inside,” Jenkintown Borough added. “A Shelter in Place Order has been issued for a radius of 1 mile from the SPS Technologies on Highland Avenue in Abington Township. That distance includes the entire Borough. There is still an active Fire scene and crews (Fire, Police & Emergency Management) have worked throughout the night. Traffic and pedestrians should find an alternate route and avoid the vicinity.”
Abington Township, Cheltenham Township and Jenkintown Borough Police and Fire Fighters are coordinating efforts. Emergency Management from those Municipalities are coordinating with Montgomery County Emergency Management on this fire.
