The GIANT Company plans to close its e-commerce fulfillment facility in Willow Grove, the company announced in a press release.
The Willow Grove site, located at 315 York Road in Willow Grove section of Upper Moreland Township, is one of five Pennsylvania fulfillment centers operated by The GIANT Company that will shut down as parent company Ahold Delhaize USA moves away from centralized warehouses and toward a store-based fulfillment model.
The company said operations at the Willow Grove facility will continue into early 2026, with most closures expected by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Company officials said the decision reflects changing customer preferences, with shoppers increasingly expecting faster delivery times, broader product selection, and greater availability. In recent years, GIANT has transitioned to fulfilling online grocery orders directly from local stores, a move it says allows for quicker service and better inventory flexibility.
While the Willow Grove facility will close, GIANT will still have delivery and online ordering as part of its business. The company will continue offering in-store order pickup and delivery relying on third-party partners.
