Cheltenham School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Scriven informed the community about a social media post suggesting a bomb threat at Cheltenham High School on Thursday.

The post, made around midnight the previous day, included a photo of the school, which prompted immediate attention from the FBI.

Cheltenham Police alerted Principal Dr. Ben Hammond at approximately 6:00 a.m. Authorities traced the post to a residence in Philadelphia. The individual responsible, a student, told the FBI that the post was intended as a joke. After questioning, the FBI confirmed the threat was non-credible and released the student.

Dr. Scriven emphasized that the safety of students and staff is the district’s top priority and noted that Cheltenham High School opened on schedule this morning. Officials continue to monitor social media to ensure the safety and security of the school community.
