Police have charged two individuals in connection with a retail theft incident that occurred at a Target store in Abington Township, according to police.
Officers were dispatched on Dec. 5 around 5:06 p.m. to the Target located at 1495 Old York Road for a reported retail theft in progress. Store loss prevention staff reported that a white male and white female, both wearing black jackets, were seen pushing a shopping cart filled with trading cards past all points of sale without attempting to pay.
Loss prevention officers attempted to stop the suspects as they exited the store, but police said the pair fled on foot and abandoned the shopping cart near the intersection of Old York Road and Jericho Road. All of the merchandise was recovered by store personnel.
Officers searching the area located two individuals matching the given descriptions at the intersection of Jericho Road and Rockwell Road, where both were detained without incident.
Police identified the suspects as Paul Fumarola. 54, of N.Y., and Avsar Kucukaslan. 34, of N.Y. Investigators reviewed store surveillance video, which allegedly showed both suspects loading a cart with trading cards, including Pokémon, NBA, and NFL products, before leaving the store without payment. Police said Kucukaslan was seen using a jacket to conceal the merchandise before the pair exited.
The total value of the stolen — and recovered — merchandise was estimated at approximately $2,017.
Fumarola and Kucukaslan are both facing felony charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. before Judge John D. Kessler.
