Each year, the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association recognizes high school coaches who set the standard for excellence, both on and off the field.
The honor goes beyond wins and losses, focusing on a coach’s knowledge of the game, leadership, sportsmanship, and ability to build strong relationships with players, officials, and fellow coaches.
This year, that distinction goes to Randy Garber of Abington High School, who has been named the 2025 recipient of the W. Gene Davis Memorial Award as Coach of the Year in the Male AAAA classification.
Garber was recognized for his deep understanding of the sport and his ability to create a positive, disciplined environment for his players. Colleagues cite his professionalism, consistency, and commitment to athlete development as key reasons for his selection. His influence extends beyond his own program, earning respect throughout the Pennsylvania high school soccer community.
The award will be presented at the PSCA Honors and Awards Banquet on Jan. 31 in Harrisburg, where coaches from across the state will gather to celebrate this year’s honorees.
Scott Bonagura, Chairperson of the PSCA Coach of the Year Committee, noted that the annual award reflects both competitive success and the character of those who lead high school programs.
