On September 1, 2021, an EF-2 tornado linked to Hurricane Ida struck Upper Dublin, carving an eight-mile path of destruction in just 14 minutes.
Part of that destruction included The Upper Dublin Township Municipal Complex, which houses administrative offices, the police department, and public works, suffered severe structural damage, including lost roofing, failing mechanical and electrical systems, and extensive water intrusion.
Recovery efforts have been ongoing, complicated further by a major pipe break on Christmas Day of 2022, which exposed previously unknown issues in the portion of the building thought to be salvageable.
But now, Upper Dublin Township is ready to unveil its new digs located at 803 Loch Alsh Avenue in Fort Washington on Friday, Dec. 12.
“As many of you know, the tornado four years ago changed so much in Upper Dublin. Since that day, our residents, partners, and neighbors have worked together to rebuild, restore, and move forward,” the township wrote. “Now, we’re just days away from officially opening our new Police Station and Township Administration Building.”
