Jahmire Montgomery, 22, of the 2000 block of Ontario Street in Philadelphia, is facing a felony charge stemming from a shoplifting incident at Best Buy, according to police.
On Aug. 14, around 12:24 p.m., police officers from the Upper Moreland Police Department were dispatched to the Best Buy located at 1130 Easton Road in Willow Grove for a report of a theft in progress, according to police.
A Best Buy store manager reported to police that a suspect, later identified as Montgomery, walked past all points of sale into the parking lot with 22 PlayStation video game controllers. The stolen merchandise was valued at $2,444.78.
According to documents, multiple employees attempted to stop Montgomery from exiting the store with the merchandise, but Montgomery dropped the stolen merchandise and fled on foot.
A short time later, around 1:21 p.m., police officers located Montgomery inside Smoker’s Destiny, located at 1056 Easton Road, approximately one block from Best Buy.
A records check revealed that Montgomery has four prior retail theft convictions. Montgomery is also currently on probation/parole as of June 25, 2025.
Bail was set at $5,077.00
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2025 at 10:30 am before Judge Thomas P. Murt.
