On Aug. 11, a Jenkintown police officer was dispatched to GIANT Food Store, located at 93 York Road in Jenkintown, for a report of retail theft in progress, according to police.

The caller described the suspect as a male wearing a blue Phillies t-shirt that walked to the bus stop at Wyncote Road, according to police. The suspect was changing his shirt at the bus stop.

Officers from the Jenkintown Police Department made contact with the suspect at the bus stop, directly next to the GIANT Food Store.

The male, identified as Troy Booker Nixon, 57, of Maryland, was identified by the store manager as the suspect accused of stealing items.

According to documents, the manager gave Nixon the opportunity to leave the items prior to leaving the store, however, Nixon ignored the manager and walked out of the store.

The manager was able to take inventory of the items taken, which totaled $156.98.

According to police, Nixon has been previously convicted of retail theft on nine separate occasions.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
