Julio Angel Pilier-Sepulveda, 43, of Bergenfield, N.J., is facing felony fraud charges stemming from an incident at the Willow Grove Mall, according to police.
Police officers from the Abington Police Department were dispatched to the Willow Grove Park Mall, located at 2400 Moreland Road, for a report of identity theft in progress, according to police.
A manager from Zales jewelry store contacted police to report that a male, later identified as Pilier-Sepulveda, returned to the store after attempting to make a fraudulent purchase a week prior, according to police.
Police were advised that Pilier-Sepulveda left Zales and then walked to Kay Jewelers on the first floor of the mall. Police made contact with Pilier-Sepulveda, who was sitting in a chair in Kay Jewelers, according to police.
Police discovered that Pilier-Sepulveda provided the manager of Kay Jewelers with a fraudulent Pennsylvania license with the name of Ricardo Delgado. Pilier-Sepulveda was attempting to purchase a bracelet valued at $3,099.99. Pilier-Sepulveda also applied for a Kay Jewelers credit card by using the fraudulent information. Pilier-Sepulveda was detained before the purchase could be made, according to police.
Pilier-Sepulveda has been charged with identity theft, theft by deception, and forgery.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 12:15 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Juanita A. Price.
Pilier-Sepulveda posted bail, which was set at $5,000.
