A Willow Grove man who turned himself in to authorities on charges related to shoplifting of more than $1,500 in merchandise from Target on two occasions within four days was sentenced to Veterans Treatment Court under Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.

Brett Robert Hendricks, 26, entered into an agreement with Veterans Court on June 3, but a felony charge each of retail theft and receiving stolen property remain open.

Hendricks must also repay $1,519.91 to Target, according to court records.

According to police, management at Warrington Target at 401 Easton Road, told police that Hendricks removed merchandise from the store without paying on Dec. 30 and Jan. 3, 2025.

On Dec. 30, Hendricks allegedly selected $800 worth of merchandise and exited the store, and then allegedly did it again four days later, shoplifting $729.95 worth of items.

All in all, $1,529.93 worth of items were stolen, police said.

The day prior to Warrington Police filing charging in its felony case, Hendricks was arrested, arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail on misdemeanor shoplifting in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County.

Hendricks was represented by Matthew Brittenburg.

The Veterans Court is a diversionary program: If a person successfully completes the program, then the charges are dismissed. Once charges are dismissed, the entire incident can be expunged from the criminal record as if the person had never been criminal charged at all.

According to the county website, Bucks County Veterans Treatment Court was established “to more effectively address the needs of veterans cycling through the criminal justice system. This Court represents a collaboration between the Court of Common Pleas, the District Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, the Adult Probation Office, the County Department of Veterans Affairs and Veteran Mentors, and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).”
