Former Abington High School student charged in connection to shooting of teenager at Roslyn Park, police say

The Abington Police Department has announced it made a second arrest in connection to the shooting of a juvenile female in the hand while in the parking lot of Roslyn Park.

Mahaylah Poindexter, 18, of West Chester, and a former student at Abington High School, was charged with multiple felony counts of robbery and aggravated assault stemming from the incident in March 2025, according to police.

According to police, Poindexter acted in conjunction with Adam Soumahoro, 20, of Glenside, to help set up a drug transaction via Instagram. 

On March 12, two victims were directed to the parking lot of Roslyn Park in Abington Township after communicating through Instagram with an account named “_1mayyy,” according to police. The communication revealed that the owner of the account coordinated the sale of one ounce of marijuana. At 9:49 p.m., the owner of the Instagram account provided an address for the victims to meet, which was the parking lot of Roslyn Park, according to police.

Instead of meeting the owner of the Instagram account for the purchase of marijuana, the two victims were met by two suspects, one of which fired a handgun from close range into the vehicle, striking a female juvenile in the hand, according to police.

An investigation into the Instagram account revealed that all of photos uploaded to the account were from Poindexter, according to police. After a judge signed off on a court order for Poindexter’s cell phone, an additional investigation revealed that FaceTime calls took place with another actor totaling 36 minutes and 41 minutes during the time of the offense, which would have included the full duration of the offense, according to police. 

According to police, Poindexter had a screen recording of the FaceTime call with the actor, where the male seen on video call can clearly be identified as Soumahoro based off previous arrest photos. According to police, in the 21-second recording, Soumahoro can be seen dancing with a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine.
