A 21-year-old man from Upper Moreland Township has been sentenced to jail after admitting to downloading and possessing child pornography, according to police.
Jordan Alexander Medina, of the 2500 block of Veser Lane in Willow Grove, received a sentence of 11½ to 23 months in Montgomery County jail after pleading guilty to felony charges including possession of child pornography, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of an instrument of crime stemming from incidents that occurred in June 2022.
There were approximately 20 images/videos of child sex abuse material located, according to reports. These images/videos contained female children around the age of 10 years old and younger in various states of nudity, with many performing prohibited sexual acts, court officials alleged.
Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O’Neill also placed Medina under sex offender supervision and ordered that he have no unsupervised contact with minors while under court oversight.
As a result of the conviction, Medina must register as a sex offender for 15 years under Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act, formerly known as Megan’s Law.
The investigation began after a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to illegal images linked to a cellphone number registered to Medina. On November 15, 2022, detectives visited Medina’s home, where they showed him nine images connected to the tip. Medina admitted he had downloaded and stored the materials on his phone, describing his actions as driven by “curiosity and stupidity,” according to court documents.
