The Cheltenham Police Department is investigating an incident in which numerous dogs were left abandoned in cages in the 2400 block of Shoppers Lane in the Wyncote section of Cheltenham Township.

Officers were notified on April 15 at 9:30 a.m. of six unattended dogs who appeared to be malnourished and neglected due to their physical condition.

All of the dogs appear to be medium or small sized. Five of them were left in one cage while one dog was left unattended in a second cage.

Cheltenham police officers transported the dogs to the Montgomery County SPCA in Conshohocken.

According to the Cheltenham Township Police Department, detectives are working with Animal Control and the Montgomery County SPCA’s Humane Society Police Officers to determine who is responsible for the abandonment and neglect of these animals.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheltenham Police at (215) 885-1600, ext. 499, or call the anonymous tip line, (215) 885-1600, ext. 777.
