Police stop man in Abington with semiautomatic gun loaded with 12 live rounds

Samuel Earle Ray Jr., 24, of the 1000 block of 66th Avenue in Philadelphia, faces a felony charge stemming from a traffic stop in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township, according to police. 

On April 9, a police officer from the Abington Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 800 block of Old York Road. The occupant, identified as Ray Jr., was driving a black Mazda CX5, which had an expired registration, according to police.

During a vehicle investigation, Ray Jr. was found to be concealing a black Taura G3c semiautomatic handgun on his person. The weapon was loaded with 12 live rounds, including one in the chamber, according to police.

National Crime Information Center (NCIC) confirmed that Ray Jr. did not have a valid conceal carry permit.

He has been charged with
