Breaking: Cheltenham High School evacuated after fire breaks out in transformer room

A fire was reported at Cheltenham High School Wednesday afternoon at 12:21 p.m.

Cheltenham High School has been evacuated after a fire broke out in the transformer room at 12:21 p.m., according to Montgomery County dispatch. 

A caller reported that smoke was coming from the transformer room inside the school located at 500 Rices Mill Road in Cheltenham Township, however, officials have upgraded it to a fire inside the building.

According to reports, the fire is contained to the transformer room. Bolt cutters were required to gain access to the gate, according to reports.

Emergency crews from Jenkintown Fire Company, Elkins Park Fire Company, LaMott Fire Company, and others are on scene.

This is a developing situation.
