Portions of Easton Road were closed Sunday night as two vans collided in Upper Moreland Township. Willow Grove Now offered coverage, live, during the incident at here. However, Upper Moreland Police were able to add more detail to the events that slowed traffic in the vicinity of Home Depot Drive at the close of the weekend.
According to UMTPD, police were dispatched for the two-vehicle accident around 7:16 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.
“Both vehicles involved had extensive damage and were rendered inoperable,” said the department in an email to Willow Grove Now.
The UMTPD was joined by the Upper Moreland Township Fire Department, who assisted in the removal of a driver’s side door of one of the involved vans, which was necessary to extricate the driver.
The Second Alarmers responded, as well, to assist one individual who required transport to the hospital.
According to police, the cause of the crash was that a 52-year-old female Horsham resident failed to stop at a red light, then striking into the second van. The driver was suspected of being “impaired at the time of the crash,” according to reports. The driver is to be charged with Driving Under the Influence, and related charges, pending blood test results, police said.
Roads were reopened around 10 p.m., police reported. For previous coverage of the incident, visit the Willow Grove Now story here.
