Firefighters are noting that a blaze on Northwood Avenue is under control at this hour

Emergency first responders were called to a fire in the 300 block of Northwood Avenue in Abington Township Saturday evening.

Early reports noted that the all came in around 7:19 p.m. for a non-commercial building fire. Witnesses said they saw smoke, and crews were unclear if everyone was out of the building.

Emergency medical services reported working on one possibly injured party, whose condition is unknown. Around 7:33 p.m., firefighters said that the fire was “under control,” though inspections continued into the attic.

A fire marshal is on the scene at this time, investigating the issue.

Multiple units were called to the scene, including the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, Elkins Park Fire Company, Abington Volunteer Fire Company, McKinley Fire Company, and Weldon Fire Company, among other departments.
